Sharps are the basic sewing and mending needles. The points are sharper so they slip into the material easier and can make smaller stitches.
Embroidery projects, such as pillowcases, using two or three threads of floss are often done with the SE-6.

Size 8 Sharp 1.4" long - Popular for sewing on lighter weight materials. Great for sewing hems and putting on bindings.

Size 6 Sharp 1.5" long - This is the work horse. The basic mending needle every sewing kit should contain. Size 6 most commonly used size sewing needle
Size 4 Sharp 1.7" long - Great for basic tasks that require a heavier duty thread, like button thread and upholstery thread. Or if you prefer a longer needle.
Size 8 Quilting (a shorter length size 8 sharp) Because of the open slot on the side of the Spiral Eye Needle weakens the needle, it is not to be used in the rocking quilt stitch with a thimble pushing it. However, some people like the shorter size to bury threads in their quilt.

SE-1 THE ORIGINAL SIDE THREADING NEEDLE Popular for burying thread in quilts. It is similar in size to the 22-C or SE-4. The design includes the stop inside the eye that keeps the thread captured inside, but it does not have the carved out area for the thread to rest against. It is best used in projects where you sew one stitch down and one stitch up but do not try to do multiple stitches and then pull the thread through.

Pull the entire needle out the other end of the bait.
